We visited the "Flower Man" north east of Loogootee on the western edge of West Boggs Creek Reservoir, and drove some paved county roads south of the Crane Navel Depot.  Then made a fast drive up Hwy 450 from Shoals and stopped for a picnic lunch at the Williams Dam. After lunch we crossed the White River using the Williams Covered bridge and took several narrow curvy county roads to the Stumphole Bridge which took us back over the White River. We then drove the rest of Hwy 450 to Bedford where we stopped for refreshments.  A casual drive back down Hwy 50 to Hwy 57 and then back to the Oakland City / Evansville area. It was a very interesting day.  175 Miles.

12 Cars, 12 Drivers, 12 Passengers, 249 Miles.

It was a cool mostly cloudy day, but we had a great time. Leaving from Evansville we crossed the Ohio River into Henderson, KY and traveled 2-lane roads to Grand Rivers, KY.  Lunch at Patti's Restaurant followed by walking in the gardens and shops at Patti's Settlement.  Later we drove to the Lighthouse Marina and watched boats, relaxed on the shoreline, and walked out to the gazeebo.  Next we drove the Trace down thru the Land Between The Lakes and stopped at the Woodlands Nature Station where we saw many types of animals from snakes to hummingbirds.  The drive home was  un-eventful, and although the skys were cloudy most of the day it didn't rain and we drove top-down most of the trip.

Leaving from Evansville, Indiana, and picking up more cars in Oakland City we started the drive with a slow cruise thru a section of the Sugar Ridge Fish & Wildlife Area north of Oakland City. The next order of business was lunch at the Stolls Lakeview Amish Restaurant north of Loogootee, Indiana.  After lunch we accepted an invitation from the Davies-Martin Joint County Parks & Recreation Department and cruised thru various sections of the West Boggs Park. Although the sky looked like it could rain at any minute we made one more stop at the Glendale Fish & Wildlife Area.

180 miles & only 27 rain drops.!

A Beautiful day for a drive. It was sunny, and a little cool, but we braved the weather and drove Top-Down on the trip from Evansville to Bloomington, Indiana and the Oliver Winery. There were several surprises on the trip including a wonderful state recreation area next to a beautiful water fall over the Williams Dam on the White River. Eagle-Eye Parker (our very own leader - Tom) spotted a restored Chevy truck and hailed him over for a mini-car show in the parking lot of the Dam. The roads picked for this trip provided a great driving experience with lots of twists, curves and hills, and even an old-fashioned covered bridge to drive over. Wine tasting and a tour of the winery followed when we arrived in Bloomington, and a stop for Mexican food on the trip back completed a perfect day.!
