July
31, 2010 The Annual Summer Picnic..!!
We met in Evansville and Oakland City and drove 2-lane highways to
Loogootee, Indiana. On this drive we handed out some wonderful
presents provided my Mazda. It was like Christmas in
July.!! In Loogootee we jumped on our favorite road - Indiana
Highway 450 - for a twisty-curvy fast drive. Making a pause at
the Williams Dam on the White River we stopped to check out the Dam and
water level. We left the Dam and headed to the Williams Coverd
Bridge that spans the White River just downstream from the Dam.
As we corssed the covered bridge we wonder if it will still be in
operation next year since a new bridge is being built just
downstream. After crossing the river we drove some narrow 2-lane
counrty roads and finally made our way into the town of Mitchell where
we stopped and picked up chicken and fixins for our picnic. Final
stop was Spring Mill State Park for a great picnic and activities in
the park. I didn't take pictures of the Pioneer Village in the park
since it was well documented on the drive we made in 2008. See the
drive on September 23, 2008, for pictures of the Village.
